Which console provides the best Rock Band experience?
If Bon Jovi, Jimmy Hendrix and Dave Grohl are some of your favourite guitar strumming legends, then the Rock Band game is guaranteed to give any rock fanatic a realistic band playing experience. The game has been released for various consoles, including the Playstation 3, the Xbox and the Wii, but it is also available on portable devices such as the ipod and the Nintendo DS. But which console provides the best rock and roll experience?
The biggest selling feature of the console version, is certainly the fact that the player can physically hold a guitar, a microphone or can sit at an electric drum-kit. This simulates a realistic experience of playing the instruments because it gets you physically moving your fingers into the correct playing position on the guitar, or imitating real drumming actions. There is also a Rock Band Live bundle which is available on the console versions. It allows players to surf the web, look up gaming blog websites, whether it is partypoker or Rock band blogs, plus, you can play against your friends online. It also enters you in a national leader board.
The Playstation guitar has large, colored buttons, making it easy for beginners to play the notes. The Rock Band guitar on the other hand is much sleeker because it is designed for expert players. The instrument is lighter and the closely placed buttons are blended into the neck of the guitar, allowing the user to play fast guitar solos by effortlessly sliding their fingers along the buttons. In addition, there is an identical set of buttons lower down on the instrument, but these are even smaller and closer together. These are designed for pro-players to use during shredding or very fast guitar solos.
On the other hand, the portable versions may be fun, but do not give a realistic enough experience. The Nintendo DS version for example, requires a plug-in guitar tab and the user simply taps the screen at the appropriate time. However, it is convenient, portable and can link to the internet, allowing the players to have a Rock battle online. But, for a real guitar strumming or drum smashing experience, the console version definitely comes top.
