Corsair announced the general retail availability of the Professional Series Gold AX1200, AX850, and AX750 power supply units. These PSUs, which feature 80 PLUS GOLD certification, were announced and shown at Computex in Taipei, and have won numerous accolades since then.

Some of the first AMD socket G34 motherboards were spotted at Computex this year that will be filled with AMD’s upcomming six-core and twelve-core derivitives of Istanbul.

The two boards differ in application as the first from Inventec seems to be more server oriented with its 24 DIMM slots supporting quad-channel memory. Each socket on the G34 HPC motherboard has twelve DIMM slots of its own.

The second board is from Quanta it appears to be more oriented to the workstation market with only eight DIMM slots per socket but room for a few PCI-Express slots. Quanta’s G34 should also support quad-channel memory as well.

Not too long ago we talked about the AGP slot still lingering. The aging video port just will not go away.

PowerColor is helping to keep this standard alive with a new GPU tailor made for the AGP crowd. Although the new board will not be a top of the line card it is still current generation and enough to keep AGP alive for a few more years.

The gang over at TechPowerUp managed to get a snapshot of the new card along with some of its brothers at Computex 2009 and it is… well it is AGP.

Apparently there is still a huge number of AGP users that want to upgrade their graphics, yet are not willing to invest in a new system with PCI-Express support. PowerColor has listened to those requests and has now announced the PowerColor HD 4670 AGP PCS which is going to be the fastest card available for this dying interface.

Alienware had originally planned to unveil its new “all powerful” notebook at the launch of Computex however it seems that they have jumped the gun just a little.

The new notebook is dubbed the M17x, taking its name from last year’s M17. The base model starts with the GeForce 9400M IGP and GTX 260M, utilizing NVIDIA’s Hybrid Power to save on the battery. It will also come with a 250GB HDD, a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a nine-cell battery.

While the base model will set you back $1,799, there will be a number of options to crank the price up and suit your mobile needs. These will include a 512GB SSD, GTX 280M’s in SLI, up to 8GB of memory, and a 1920×1200 LCD. You can even throw in a quad-core Intel Core 2 Extreme processor, but sadly there is no Core i7 available.

MSI’s WindBox DE200 has undergone some serious changes in the last couple of months. According to the gang over at TechConnect Magazine the new box has shed the Celeron CPU and nVidia graphics and gone for the more traditional “net” hardware of a single core Atom, and 945GC board.

No word on why this has happened but the changes should be the final version and what well will see at its Computex 2009 launch.

In addition to the hardware changes the physical design seems to have been adjusted and is not as sleek as the previous version shown at CeBit.

Seen below in its new form, the nettop seems less sleek than the first iteration but is still quite compact and it no longer uses a Celeron CPU, or an Nvidia GeForce 9400 motherboard, but an Atom 230 (single-core, 1.6GHz) and a 945GC board.

The DE200 also boasts less RAM than the CeBIT version – 1GB, and has an 160GB hard drive, WiFi, Ethernet, D-Sub and HDMI outputs and one of four funky colors – black, white, blue and red. Expect more details, like the release date, next week at Computex.

Asus is getting into the HTPC market if the rumors and pictures popping up just before Computex 2009 at Hardware.info are real.

The tiny new box is going to be built around a new and previously unheard of Realtek audio chip (perhaps similar to the A200 Asus used in the Xonar).

The new box will be called the O!Play and will feature an e-SATA port, these are not usually found on HTPC/Media player systems so it should give the O!Play a nice push into the market.

Hardware.Info had the opportunity to be the first to take a closer look at the O!Play, as ASUS is calling the player (code HDP-R1) for now. We will of course bring you a full review later, but our first impressions are very positive. The player is a lot faster and more responsive than models we have tested so far. Not only is the file format compatibility very good even in this initial firmware version, the O!Play appears to have significantly better video postprocessing than any other media player we tested until now.

Another feature that is liable to draw approval is the eSATA connector, which should markedly improve transfers from an external disk.

AMD is working hard to get its game back on track. Part of the way they are attempting to become competitive in the market again (besides complaints) is by redefining their mobile platform.

In this space AMD has been consistently trounced by Intel and nVidia.
Intel kicks their mobile CPUs and nVidia kicks their mobiles GPUs.

However AMD is getting ready to dump a new mobile platform on the consumer. Yukon is doing well with HP’s dv2 but we hear that Tigris will be making a large appearance at Computex. Tigris will be composed of a Dual Core Caspian CPU combined with a RS880M and SB710. Graphics will be provided by either a 55 or 40nm GPU.
