For that $6k you get 54-inches of Full HD 1080p, a native contrast ratio of 40,000:1, 24Hz Cinematic Playback and THX Certification. There’s also Neo PDP low-energy panel technology (you’ll probably want to save on power bills after shelling out for the set) and included speakers and stand.

The wireless HDMI box – which is included with the Z1 – not only funnels video and audio from your DVD, Blu-ray or Media Center PC to the HDTV, but has VIERA Link Internet connectivity and a VIERA Link SD card reader too. That all means that the only cable required to your new wall-mounted $6k Panasonic is the one providing power.

I just adore small gadgets .. this one certainly applies. Wireless-N gimmicks, meet Trendnets dual band wireless N USB adapter. Trendnet has today announced an immediate release of its new USB TEW-664UB 300Mbps dual band wireless N adapter.

The dual band N technology in the Trendnet supports selectable 2.4GHz for low bandwidth clients or uncongested 5GHz discrete high bandwidth wireless signals, which includes 802.11b, 802.11g or 802.11n standard networks. Communications (MIC) has been working on R&D and standardization of wireless power transmission technologies, which enable noncontact or wireless power supply to home appliances like TVs.

Toshiba Corp made the proposal of the R&D and standardization, which is currently being evaluated by an ad hoc team under the Radio Wave Policy Council, a study group at MIC. They are aiming to commercialize the technologies in between 2015 and 2020 though the schedule may change depending on the difficulty of the technology development, according to the team.

The ad hoc team considers that three types of technologies have to be established.

(1) A technology that utilizes a general electromagnetic induction method and features a transmission range of less than several millimeters, electricity of several hundred watts or less and a frequency less than several hundred kHz

(2) A technology that was developed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and is called resonant induction. Using a frequency ranging from several to several hundred MHz, it is capable of wireless transmission with a transmission range of several tens of centimeters and electricity of several hundred watts.

(3) A technology for receiving radio waves by a highly-efficient receiving circuit and retrieving DC power via a rectifier circuit

The first technology, which has already been adopted for some products on the market, is expected to be standardized by 2015, according to MIC. As for the second and third technologies, “we are about to pinpoint issues, aiming to commercialize the technologies around 2020,” according to MIC [via techon]

Wowzers, that took them a while. How long does it take to get an 8GB memory card to the market? If you’re Eye-Fi, and the card is the WiFi 802.11n-toting Eye-Fi Pro X2, then it’s a couple of months; the company has announced that its latest wireless-enabled memory card is shipping from today, promising faster transfer speeds and improved overall performance.

According to the Eye-Fi blog, that’s all down to their new X2 engine, which bundles together a 200 MHz ARM926 processor with an MMU, dedicated flash and radio interface engines, and encryption acceleration hardware. Combined, they’re good for improved WiFi-triangulation geotagging accuracy and “Endless Memory”, Eye-Fi’s new system whereby images and video are automatically deleted from the X2 once the card has verified that they’ve been correctly uploaded to the server.

The Eye-Fi Pro X2 will also come with Eye-Fi Center, the newest version of the company’s desktop manager app for PC and Mac. Eye-Fi Center will also be available for existing Eye-Fi owners, though so far we can’t find it to download on their site. As for the Eye-Fi Pro X2, that’s available for $149.99.

Wireless networking with 802.11n is fast enough for many of us who only want a wireless router to connect a laptop to the web without cords. If you use your wireless network for moving lots of large files from computer to computer or streaming HD video you have probably wished for higher speeds. TRENDnet has unveiled a new 802.11n router called the TEW-691GR that promises to hit speeds of 450Mbps.

The router operates on the 2.4GHz spectrum and uses three spatial streams per antenna to hit the 450Mbps max. Normal 802.11n routers have a maximum speed of 300Mbps. Wireless coverage is boosted with MIMO tech and the router has a Gigabit WAN port and four Gigabit Ethernet ports for local computers.

Security is a big feature with the router as well with encryption and a firewall to protect the network. Traffic needing bandwidth is prioritized by the router with QoS technology. Wi-Fi Protected Setup makes it easy to setup a connection with supported wireless adapters with the press of a button on the adapter and the router. The TEW-691GR will ship in May for $159.99.

Netgear have outed two new wireless home networking products at CeBIT 2010 today, the High-Performance Wireless-N HD Home Theater Adapter (WNHDB3004) shown here, and the Ethernet to Wireless Adapter (WNCE2001) for easily bridging wired devices to a wireless network. The Home Theater Adapter is apparently capable of supporting multiple simultaneous Full HD 1080p streams, and comes with pre-configured security settings so that, after a single button push, the two towers are linked.

As for the frequencies it uses, there’s a WiFi a/n chipset on the 5GHz band, paired with a 4×4 MIMO antenna. Netgear reckon it’s stable enough to guarantee 40Mbps HD streams 99.9-percent of the time, and it’ll work with your Xbox 360, PS3, Apple TV, Wii, Blu-ray deck or PC, among other devices. The Netgear High-Performance Wireless-N HD Home Theater Kit (WNHDB3004) will go on sale in Q3 2010; pricing to be announced closer to the time, but both the pair of towers and individual units will be available.

The Netgear Ethernet to Wireless Adapter (WNCE2001), meanwhile, connects via ethernet but gets its power via a USB port; that means you can – assuming the device you’re plugging into has a power USB free – avoid having to find an AC outlet for a separate PSU brick. It also uses WiFi-N technology, and will go on sale in May 2010 priced at $79.

Klipsch has ushered in its new ProMedia 2.1 speakers which were specially designed to work in tandem with notebooks.

To make matters all the more interesting, these THX-certified speakers will be mostly wireless in the sense where you need to tether them to a power outlet in order to obtain the necessary juice to run, although there is no need to physically connect it to your computer.
