AMD is giving a sneak peek into the future, well next year 2011 that is. AMDs future processors will be called APUs (Accelerated Processing Units) and during a Press Conference yesterday in Taipei, the company’s Senior VP and GM, Rick Bergman showcased a DirectX 11 demo of the 2011-bound APUs. Don’t confuse that with say Intel’s Clarkdale which has in fact two processing units (CPU and a GPU) both sitting on the processor package.

Rumors are all over the web regarding the pending release of ATI’s Radeon 5800 series DX11 class graphics cards. We ‘think’ that the first released card will be the Radeon HD 5870 which is developed under codename Cypress.

Well, it’s not exactly a secret that DX11 will come along with the new compute shader. NVIDIA held a presentation which shows huge performance gains Windows 7 machine is aided with an NVIDIA graphics processor.

Codemasters have confirmed that their upcoming addition to the Colin McRae series, Colin McRae: DiRT 2, will support DirectX 11 features in the PC ‘Games for Windows’ version.
