Revolutionaries everywhere are now banding together to challenge this totalitarian enemy in the ultimate war for the future of mankind.

Here’s a trailer and developer diary for End of Nations, an MMORTS being developed by Petroglyph, which is made up of by veterans from the original Command & Conquer.

It’s set to be used for Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) games, but as you can probably already assume, it’s tailored for the largest of them all, World of Warcraft.

This USB-connected peripheral has a unique 12-button pad on the left-hand side of the mouse, lined up in a simple to use format, so that your thumb doesn’t have to travel all that far to press any one of the buttons. In addition, there’s the regular five buttons found on “normal” mice, which means there’s some semblance of a traditional piece of hardware in there somewhere. The mouse itself isn’t solely designed for MMOs, and can be used with any application that allows for button configuration of custom mouse buttons, as well as Razer’s own Windows software which can be used to map a wide array of shortcuts to very specific tasks.

We’d just like to say how unique this thing looks, and, if it’s not too crazy, attractive. Maybe it’s just the promotional pictures, but either way, we’re pulled in and can’t wait for this thing to ship, whenever it ships. At this point, Razer isn’t letting out anything other than “soon.” But, one good thing we can take away from this, is that it won’t cost you your left arm to get this peripheral. Just $80 will get you more than prepared for your next year-long campaign in WoW. Are you ready?

The delay on this is due to a “development issue” but CEO Ben Feder was quick to say that the issue was not console specific and the decision to move the game back was also due to possible financial benefit from releasing the game outside the Christmas season.

The delay will also affect Mafia II, Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption.

There was no firm date given for the new launch but they should be out sometime between January and June in 2010.

The downside? the PC version now won’t be out until December – a good 3 months after the release on the consoles.

Still, you’d be hard pressed to find a complaint from any PC gaming enthusiasts, who will no doubt look past the delay and focus on the feature set DX11 will introduce into the game – support for hardware tessellation, multi-threading and Shader Model 5.0. Sure, DX11 could very well be just as overhyped as DX10 was and the delay could be a big waste of time, but comeone dude – hardware tessellation. Does that not speak for itself? (on a slightly related note, what is hardware tessellation?)

Of course, you will need Windows 7 and DX11 hardware to take advantage of this anyway, both of which will basially be brand spanking new technologies to the retail market by December, so one might be inclined to believe this DX11 announcement is actually more of a damage control attempt and a way to save some face for the PC version after an evitable delay anyway, but hey, it beats PC gamers getting nothing at all but a late release, so for that Codemasters should be applauded.

“We expect Codemasters’ early move to DirectX 11 to place them in a leadership position in developing the next generation of PC games and simulations,” said Rick Bergman, senior vice president, AMD Products Group. “To aid in transitioning to DirectX 11, AMD is providing Codemasters with access to our software engineering expertise in DirectX 11 technologies such as tessellation and shader modelling. DirectX 11 has all of the ingredients needed to take PC gaming to a new level of realism by giving developers tools to effectively utilize the multi-CPU, multi-GPU systems now available to players.”

Blizzard stated that there were two reasons backing their decision to exclude LAN play from Starcraft II. First up is that Blizzard wants to ensure that players receive the highest quality experience possible and the only way they can do that is to direct people to the upgraded Battle.net service.

Blizzard has spent a lot of time upgrading Battle.net to bring it up to modern day expectations. No longer are players confined to simple chat and mediocre game searches. Blizzard has updated Battle.net to include advanced communication options, achievements, stat-tracking and much more, but they can’t ensure that players are able to utilize these features without forcing them to log into it first.

They also want to protect against piracy. Anyone that has ever been to a LAN party knows that piracy is rampant during the event because players are able to play without going through activation and validation servers. Blizzard recons that they can avoid this on a large scale by forcing players to log on to Battle.net which requires a valid retail key to do so.

We don’t currently plan to support LAN play with Starcraft II, as we are building Battle.net to be the ideal destination for multiplayer gaming with Starcraft II and future Blizzard Entertainment games,” a Blizzard representative said in a statement. “While this was a difficult decision for us, we felt that moving away from LAN play and directing players to our upgraded Battle.net service was the best option to ensure a quality multiplayer experience with Starcraft II and safeguard against piracy.
